Here’s a glimpse into one of my recent adventures in Mexico along the Mayan Riviera. It was definitely an unforgettable experience filled with fun and excitement. A couple of the places we visited were Cancun, Tulum, and Xel Ha.

The New Google Local Search Conspiracy?

Ever since the new Google algorithm and local search update recently, I’ve been bombarded with questions from concerned chiropractors, internet marketers, and other business professionals. I can understand the concern and frenzy especially from beginners online.

One very important thing to note, though. DON’T FREAK OUT! The sky is not falling nor is there a conspiracy to bump you down the search listings…

Google never remains static and has been changing since they began in business. This holds true for their search algorithms as well.

Don’t be fooled by the fact that Google’s had the same home-page with little variation since it’s inception. Unless you’re heavy into online marketing, previous updates may not have been so obvious.

Believe it or not, though, most of the emails and feedback I’ve received has been about how my clients rankings have increased. Why? It’s pretty simple. If you’re trying to build a long-term presence online through a variety of different content mediums and legitimate linking, Google actually likes that.

If you’re obeying their rules for marketing and not trying to find the newest “loophole” or trick to gain short-term advantage, you’re in the clear.

For quite awhile now, I’ve stressed strategic link-building to clients websites and their Google Places (formerly Google Maps) listings in order to build site authority… AND… a wonderful thing has now happened:

The fresh integrated Google search results now COMBINE your organic and local business rankings! This new Google algorithm was created to make finding your businesses easier.

I like the sound of that, don’t you?

As I mention in the video below, there are a couple things that hold true. If you consistently market your business / practice with the strategies I share on this blog and in my learning systems, you’ll set yourself up for long-term sustainability and will be practically bulletproof in regards to future changes or pattern interrupts.

This recent Google update places emphasis on the importance of maintaining a strong presence in ALL aspects of the web. This is exactly what you learn how to do on this blog and what I’ve spoken about for the last few years

So, to silence any rumors, there’s no conspiracy to dethrone your previous top Maps or website listing. The game has just changed slightly and more of a multidimensional marketing approach is needed if you intend to thrive and be the “top-dog” locally online.

Normally, I don’t write company reviews on my blog but I felt compelled to do this one. This is also going to tie into a lesson about viral marketing and how you can get your customers to literally be disciples, spreading a powerful message for your business, service, or product while building brand loyalty like crazy!

Last weekend over the Labor Day holiday, I flew down to Florida to stay at the W Fort Lauderdale which is nestled on A1A close to the beach. It was a nice 4 days of relaxation, hanging-out with friends, snorkeling, and just living the good life. I made the decision to stay there because I’ve had such memorable experiences here at W Atlanta Downtown during seminars, parties, and at one of my favorite restaurants, Spice Market.

From my experience, I feel the W is in a class of it’s own and unique in many ways. It’s well-known as a premium destination and, in my opinion, one of the few places where the customer service and attention to detail REALLY live up to the hype. The architecture, aesthetics, inside decor, customer service and general ambiance set a wonderful tone for the guest experience.

Of all of the high-end hotel and resorts I have stayed at (with the exception of 1 other), I would say that the premium you pay is definitely worth it. Huhh?? You may be thinking, how can you justify $15 drinks and gladly pay it? Well, if you remember when I posted Online Entrepreneur Rules to Live By, you’ll recall a RULE in there that says:

You must charge a premium price so you have a large margin to provide an extraordinary value & experience

This is something that I learned (not soon enough) and have lived by in business ever since. Why would I expect a luxury establishment to feel any different? The fact is, I wouldn’t. Now, unfortunately high price isn’t always associated with quality, amazing value and experience. I think we all know that. However, don’t be afraid to seek-out a premium experience because you DESERVE the best in life.

I find it interesting that I haven’t been paid one cent to write this review of W Fort Lauderdale, yet feel so compelled to let my friends and colleagues know about what an incredible experience I had there. There’s a big underlying message here that all businesses should take note of… wink, wink.

What does this mean to Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc (parent company of W)?

It means ongoing, positive free press, exposure, publicity, and website visitors coming from my high-traffic blog. This is helping them tap into yet another ripe market of potential customers who are interested in having an unforgettable experience at a high-end hotel. Talk about viral and referral marketing at its best!

Think about it for a moment. As a chiropractor, how many times have helped one patient and provided great service and then BAM, they refer you a slew of New Patients on an ongoing basis. Some may say those types of people are far and few between, however I submit to you that you can make those types of patients a regular occurrence! Tell me that wouldn’t be great?

Having your customers, patients, or clients spread your message like wildfire is the byproduct of over-delivering, paying attention to the smallest details, making them happy, giving them an unforgettable experience, and having their needs / wants in mind as an integral part of your business model.

In fact, make them feel like a celebrity…

I strongly feel the W Fort Lauderdale does this very well, hence why I recommend you stay there if you’re looking for a memorable and trendy hot-spot. Several times during my stay, I had staff members go out of their way to help me and it felt GENUINE. With so much insincerity and surplus of generic people nowadays, this means a great deal.

Let me ask you this, how can you give your existing customers or patients an unforgettable VIP experience? What if one of them was in a position like myself, that could blast you out online to major outlets and get you MASSIVE exposure? You never know who you’re going to meet and it’s ALWAYS a good idea to give everyone the 5 star experience!

When I first broke into online marketing several years ago, I made many mistakes along the way. One of them was my process and thinking in regards to what I “thought” people were searching online as opposed to the keywords they really were searching for! Looking back, it’s clear I made too many emotional assumptions based on my ego and not enough market research. The interesting thing is, I wasn’t alone. From speaking to thousands of doctors, affiliate marketers, and other professionals, I realized that what I reveal in the video below is one of the MOST COMMON mistakes small business owners make initially in their local online marketing.

After a tremendous amount of time, energy, and frustration, I discovered better ways to educate myself and uncover high-traffic low competition keywords that I could dominate and get continuous massive exposure.

If you’ve heard me speak live or in previous videos, then you’re familiar when I say “the money is in the market research!” Selecting appropriate, high converting keywords is CRITICAL to your online marketing success. Research will either make you or break you and it’s not something you want to short-cut.

Here’s a quick update from my vacation in beautiful Punta Cana. While I was on the beach, I became inspired to make this personal video. I was also reminded of a quote by an anonymous source that says “Where you are in life at his moment is EXACTLY where you believe you should be.”

While studying human potential, it never ceases to amaze me what can be accomplished when all perceived obstacles and psychological barriers are removed. I remember growing-up in a small town in southeast Michigan, being surrounded by friends and family, in a limited belief system that was not really my own. I instinctively knew that I was different and never place limits upon myself or what I could achieve. Yet, I watched how others would continuously make excuses and settle, selling themselves short letting their present external circumstances dictate internet beliefs.

One of the lessons I took away was to think big, regardless of how “unrealistic” I thought my desire was or “how” I was going to make it happen. An interesting thing began to unfold when I started doing thinking this way. The “how” eventually took care of itself when I began to take action toward my dreams and maintain focus. I attracted the network, relationships, and skill-set that would eventually lead me on an extraordinary path and where I am today.

Here’s a video from our recent Las Vegas getaway. I thought The Venetian, where we stayed, was a little overrated. Without a doubt, it was a gorgeous hotel and there were some incredible restaurants, etc… However, there was this essential oil-like aroma once we walked in that gave me a headache after about an hour. The scent was noticeable in the rooms as well. The casino section was also a little smokey. I would expect that in a lower-end hotel but not a 4-5 star resort.

Last August, I traveled to Costa Rica and stayed at Paradisus Playa Conchal which is still my best experience of all the resorts I’ve stayed. They are an all-inclusive facility and I highly recommend checking them out if you get a chance to make it down. Costa Rica is atop my list of places to relocate at the moment. I still would like to see a bit more of South America before I make the jump, though.

Getting back to Vegas. The third evening, we went to see Cirque du Soleil O at the Bellagio. I had heard this was the best performances to see and it totally lived up to the expectation, spectacular! Didn’t get any video camera footage of the show, unfortunately. There are clips available on YouTube, though.
