I actually had the chance to see possibly the greatest pitchman alive, Joel Bauer, at StomperNet Live a couple weeks ago. I’m not going to go into specifics about his presentation on influence, persuasion and how to get customers to buy from you. Reason being, I don’t think I can really do it justice because you really have to be in the room for the experience. I will say, whether you love him or hate him, he’s an absolute MASTER at getting / holding attention and psychology.

As a professional speaker myself, I can totally appreciate when an presenter delivers the goods and provides so much value like Joel does. On another note, to watch him effectively close the crowd at the end (and tell you exactly what he was doing step-by-step) was incredible and an art-form. I chatted with him at dinner later that evening for a few minutes. He’s a very friendly guy driven to help others succeed, which I totally admire and respect.

Here is a video below that is so funny, yet so true in many regards concerning business cards. Joel has a very unique way of explaining it. After you watch this, think about what your business card is subconsciously telling your potential new patient or customer about you. I’m anxious to hear your thoughts so make sure to leave a comment on this blog post ;)

That is hilarious Matt! I agree with some of what he said and agree with some of it but he’s certainly committed, isn’t he?

  6. Paulymath on Wednesday 7, 2010

@Ginger: LOL. But the real question is… would you keep his business card?

    :)

Ginger, Dr. Chris, Paul …. Thanks for comments and feedback. He’s actually a really nice guy and knows how to light-up a room. Yes, he’s very committed!

Wow, he is intense. I would not call that a business card, but more of a brochure. It looks great, but how and where do you go to get something like that? Yes, I’m sure it is effective, but it is still not a business card. Try tucking that bad boy in your wallet.

This was so to the point and entertaining at the same time. We should have some venue to show off our best Chiropractic Business Cards…Does anyone know an interenet guru out there that could handle such a task? :)

I am going to see Joel Bauer this weekend and found your blog while Googling him. I like how you adapted his content for your niche. Your is a valuable hub for the Chiro community to filter in great content and tailor it towards their needs. I try to do the same thing with the job search market on my blog.

I checked out your program and I am curious if you teach all or any of the 42 videos yourself or if it PLR? My expertise is in LinkedIn and I would be interested in collaborating with you as I see this as a gap in your current offer. I look forward to exploring things further with you.

    Thanks for the great content!

    Matthew…

This post and video couldn’t be more spot on. Most businesses are blatantly boring right down to the business card. Building a Brand from the ground up, starting with the business card will make any Chiropractor stand out from the mass of average.

    Thanks for sharing the interview.

This video is legit. It makes me laugh every time when he looks into the camera. He’s kinda crazy but a genious. Love it.

  15. Dr Barry Marks on Wednesday 7, 2010

Joel is THE man when it comes to attracting attention and keeping it. His record has proven he knows what he speaks of. I had an interesting aha! moment when a patient I hadn’t seen in about10 years came in and I asked when was the last time we had seen each other…she opened her wallet, fumbled then pulled out my business card from 10 years ago! I immediately saw the card and thought, wow I remember those cards, why did I stop using it? Then I remembered, oh yeah it was too expensive! Needless to say I am redesigning and reordering one similar now!

    Thanks Matt!

Joel is hilarious…and he does make a point! It’s time for an overhaul…hey how do I get contact Joel?

  17. Cindi on Wednesday 7, 2010

I love it when someone makes a good point and makes me laugh at the same time. I also kind of envy his ability to draw the viewer into his presentation. He must be good if he can incite any type of reaction.

  18. Matthew Loop on Wednesday 7, 2010

You got it, Dr. Barry… Joel is a very captive speaker for sure. First impressions are everything and a good business card can leave a powerful and unforgettable mark!

  19. Dr Robert Affolter on Wednesday 7, 2010

I’ve received big cards like that before. First thing I do is throw them away. They don’t fit into anything. Can’t be organized. Belong in trash.

  20. greg cryns on Wednesday 7, 2010

I don’t know. Seems like most people throw away all business cards, eventually.

    Then again, he is enthusiastic.

  21. Matt on Wednesday 7, 2010

Fluff. Everyone can see through that fluff. If you can’t then you are easily duped and easily sold by whatever this jerk is selling.
