Why Most Bloggers Don’t Make Money

Here’s a GREAT video I wanted to share with you by dot com mogul, John Chow. It reveals (among many other gems) why most bloggers don’t make money online. John’s been blogging since 2005 and his blog pulls-in over $50,000 per month.

Creating a blog is pretty easy overall.

What’s hard is acquiring the knowledge, skills, and tools that actual make you money from the web. Like John, before I was a blogger, I was an internet marketer. We’re internet marketers that happen to have a blog.

According to John, here’s why most bloggers fail and don’t make money:

1) They’re bloggers and NOT internet marketers. You have to treat the blog like a business just as much as a relationship builder.

2) There’s no investment. It doesn’t cost anything to start a blog. It’s easy-in, easy out. It’s an advantage and a disadvantage really. Because it cost nothing, many don’t take it seriously.

3) They’re blogging for money only. Blogs are NOT a get rich quick medium. Making real money using them takes time and more effort than the average majority are willing to give.

I agree with all of these points, as I’ve witnessed them first hand. You can build the best relationships in the world but if you don’t know how to monetize your brand or have a strong internet marketing skill-set, you’re sunk.

  1. Thanks for posting this Matt! I almost passed on it due to the length of the video, but the information helped confirm and solidify what I am doing with my new website. My first website, while doing well on Google, is a template from a well known and used company. As such, the blog capability was very limited, and I could not add an email auto-responder like A-weber. The new site, http://www.folsomchiropractor.net, is being developed with the “sales funnel” and opt-in email capture mentioned in the video. With the help of your Social Media Elite Training Course, I expect to have the new site compete and over take the Google position of my first website!
