An iPhone App for Your Practice or the Masses? Which is Better?

One of the most common questions I’m asked by fellow chiropractors and business owners is “Should I build an iPhone app for my practice or should I just build one that can be marketed globally?” This is a good question I wanted to address on this blog.

The answer is both. It’s best to have one for your local business and then to have one that can reach infinitely more smart-phone users. In terms of which type of mobile app is better, that depends on your goals and what you’re looking to accomplish.

Benefits of Local Practice iPhone Apps

Shows your local community you’re evolving with the times, which increases public confidence and credibility.

Makes things convenient for current patients / clients to keep-up on the go. Some apps can have info about the practice, one click scheduling, refer-a-friend functions, diagnosis charts, and much more.

Benefits of Global iPhone Apps

You reach the masses, potentially millions of people!

If your goal is to empower as many individuals as possible with valuable health information, this is the route you should go. Or, if you just have a cool, unique idea that fits into any of the categories on iTunes. This should center around something you’re passionate about.

There are so many ways you can monetize apps that can be mass marketed. I go into detail about this in The ULTIMATE Mobile App Marketing Blueprint training program. If your goal is to generate an extra 4-5 figure monthly passive income with your app, you’d start here.

The important thing to realize is that you don’t build an iPhone app for your chiropractic practice or local business expecting to generate dramatically more income. You build a practice app to create easy solutions for patients.

This app should be free to your patient-base. Yes, if you do it right, the iPhone app can lead to referrals but it’s harder to monetize the app itself like you can with something that has mass appeal.
