Desperation: It NEVER Gets the Girl or the Sale

Desperation NEVER attracts what you want in life. It just repels. Think about it. There’s probably been one time or another that you came-off as a bit needy. Maybe it was with that woman you really liked but were overeager, calling seven too many times the day after the initial encounter.

You know, like John Favreau’s character in one of my favorite movies of all time, Swingers.

I still turn my head, squint my eyes, and say “Ugghhh” whenever I watch that scene.

It’s just painful to view!

In the situation I just described, did you actually get that woman (or man) you wanted?

No, you didn’t!

The same holds true in business.

When you come from a position of desperation, people sense this immediately.

You lose your power and it gives the impression you’re weak. Furthermore, it makes it near impossible to close a deal or turn that prospect into an actual client / customer.

Strategic follow-up mixed with a bit of apathy is what gets the girl, and the sale in business.

It’s sometimes a tough lesson to learn, but it’s life-changing when internalized. There is an art and science to effective and masterful follow-up. Any bumbling fool can be clingy.
